Alpski letalski center Lesce

The airport in Lesce is located on the plain below Karavanki, not far from Bled and near the confluence of the Sava Dolinka and Sava Bohinjka at an altitude of 503m and is an excellent starting point for sports and gliding and panoramic flights over the Beautiful surroundings. The aviation in Gorenjska will soon mark a century of operation, and the airport in Lesce has more than sixty years of tradition. During and after the Second World War, as the locals say to Travnik, where the airport is spread out, Kležnik was used for the needs of military aircraft. From 1947 onwards, there was already a grassy airport runway for sports aviation, when the Republican Sailing Center also started operating in Lesce. On June 17, 1955, Jat started from Lesce Airport with regular flight connections to Zagreb, Belgrade and Skopje, and later also from Dubrovnik and Vienna. With the opening of the airport in Brnik in 1963, these lines were abandoned and only flew from Brnik. At Lesce Airport today, we can meet gliders, parachute sports champions, a whole range of motor pilots and excellent modelers. In 1954, the first aerotaxi flew from Lesce airport, and the greatest interest was in panoramic flights over Bled, towards Bohinj and over the Julian Alps, which has not changed to this day.
