Vojsko - the highest village in Primorska, the army, is known as the highest lying village in Primorska. The plateau covers 41.2 km2 and is located less than 50 km west of Ljubljana and about 10 km east of the city of Idrija. The village stretches over the entire Vojskarska plateau, which lies at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,100 meters between the Idrijca, Kanomljica and Trebuša valleys. It climbs the highest with a peak called Planinca (1171 m). The climate is mountainous, with fresh summers and long winters. The soldiers therefore like to joke that they don't only burn from St. Jakob (July 25) to St. Anne (July 26) – so only one day. In Vojsko, there are an average of three days, when the highest daily temperature rises above 25°C, and the other third of the year is cold (the average is more than 126 days when the lowest morning temperature drops below 0°C). Due to being trapped in the pre-Alpine hills, a larger town near Vojsko is quite far from the main Slovenian road connections. A 13 km long winding asphalted road leads from Idrija to Vojska, which has to overcome a 700 m height difference. From the direction of Idrija, you can also reach the plateau by road through the village of Čekovnik, which is also asphalted, and there are several other, unpaved connections from the direction of Trebuš, Predmeje, Oblakov vrh and Kanomlje. The entire area of the plateau is exceptional in terms of natural heritage. Almost the entire territory is covered with preserved and well-kept forests, the varied flora and fauna also attract plant and mushroom collectors (Astramontana, Arnica, St. John's wort, various types of mushrooms... The most famous cultural heritage of Vojskarska The plateau is certainly from half-past history, from the time of the Second World War (Partizanska tiskarna Slovenija, Military Cemetery Vojščica, PB Pavla), but at the same time we must not forget the cultural heritage that the village has from 17th century. (Church of St. Joseph). The plateau itself is extremely suitable for relaxation, hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and many other sports activities.
