Liznjekova domačija

Liznjek's homestead in the middle of Kranjska Gora was a rich gruntarian home along the former main village path. The mighty farmhouse, where it was also an inn for a while, was built in the second half of the 17th century and shows the characteristics of a peasant baroque from the 18th and early 19th centuries. In the past, its spatial design represented one of the most advanced architectures in our country; Today, it appears to us as a prototype of an authentic Slovenian Alpine house. It also includes a typical large outbuilding dated 1781. The house is decorated with paintings on the facade (fresco, sewn edges and cofast ornament), a stone semicircular portal and a wooden porch (balcony). In the brick ground floor there is a black kitchen, a hall, a hall and a house chamber, and a house with a wooden ceiling, where a rosette is carved and the year 1781 on a supporting beam. Since 1983, Liznjek's homestead has been renovated and equipped with an ethnological museum collection. In the basement of Liznjek's house, there is a permanent exhibition about the life and work of the youth writer Josip Vandot (1884-1944), the author of books about Kekec and the gallery.
