Loški muzej Škofja Loka

The Škofja Loka Loška Museum is a general-type museum with an archaeological, historical, art, ethnological and natural history collection... All of them bear witness to the extremely rich cultural heritage of Škofja Loka and its surroundings and the way of life in Loško in ancient times. The museum represents the natural and cultural heritage of the Škofjelo area, which in the past belonged to the Bavarian diocese of Freising for 830 years (from 973 to 1803). It has its premises at Loška Castle, which was first mentioned in 1215 as "castrum firmissimum", which means a very strongly fortified castle. The museum also manages two galleries: the Ivan Grohar Gallery and the France Mihelič Gallery.
