In the City Museum of Ljubljana, the central historical museum of Ljubljana, the cultural heritage of the Ljubljana area from prehistoric times to the present day is kept. The museum collection includes over 200,000 museums, among which the 5,200-year-old oldest wooden wheel with an axle stands out. The City Museum of Ljubljana, which has lived in the Turjaška Palace for 80 years, the former residence of the noble family of the Counts of Turjaški, charms you with its architecture already in the ground floor - the museum atrium and the courtyard. The exceptionality of the location is also revealed to you on the way down to the museum cellar, where the archaeological remains found on the spot are presented on the site: the Roman road and the bread oven from Emona, the medieval vessel and the modern well, as well as the treasure trove of current archaeological finds from Ljubljana. The entire first floor of the museum is dedicated to organizing high-profile occasional exhibitions. The second floor of the museum is occupied by the attractive permanent exhibition Faces of Ljubljana, which shows the capital of Slovenia in rounded thematic groups and periods as an economic, political, administrative and creative center. The City Museum of Ljubljana is part of the Museum and Galleries of the City of Ljubljana - the largest city institute that operates in the field of heritage and visual arts. In addition to the museum, the Ljubljana City Gallery, the Jakopič Gallery, the Vžigalica Gallery, the Bežigrajski galerija 1 and 2, the Tobačna 001 Cultural Center, the Plečnik House, the Emona Archaeological Park and Roglab also operate within it.
