Planšarski muzej

The Planšar museum in Stara Fužina, which was opened in 1971 and then remodeled and supplemented in 1990, is located in an abandoned village cheese factory. In 1883, a cheese factory was built in Stara Fužina in Bohinj, in which cheese was made until 1967, and where cheese masters took care of the large loaves of cheese during the summer, which the porters brought every week from mountains.

The museum has preserved the original cheese workshop with large built-in cheese boilers and a press for the design of cheese loaves. On display are the original cheese tools and accessories, as well as objects that were used by the planners in their work in Planina. There is also a wooden planšarski apartment with interior decoration from the Zajamniki mountain from 1849.

In an authentic environment, objects and photographic and documentary material show the history of mountain climbing in Bohinj, the life of mountaineers, a cheese factory and cheese work in the mountains, transport to the valley, typical Bohinj mountain ranges and mountain buildings.
