About Us

The municipality of Dobrovnik lies in the area where the Pannonian Sea once was. It covers 31 km2. It covers three settlements, namely Strehovci, Žitkovci and Dobrovnik. The latter two lie in an ethnically mixed area, where a large part of the population is members of the Hungarian nationality. The village of Strehovci lies outside the bilingual area. There is a bilingual primary school in the municipality, we also have a kindergarten. In addition to Slovenes and Hungarians, Dobrovnik also has a smaller Roma community, and all residents live in mutual respect and tolerance.

In the northwestern part of the municipality, the Dobrovniško - Strehovske gorice spread out with vineyards and orchards, between which lie extensive forests with a beautiful reservoir lake, while on the southern and western sides it is typical Pannonian a lowland, with fields and meadows.

The real wealth of the municipality is an interesting cultural heritage and nature, which is known mainly to locals, but lately it has also been recognized by foreign tourists. There is a lot of friendly and happy people everywhere who are willing to serve the visitor with authentic home-made food and a good drop. Various thematic routes run through our municipality. The cycling and hiking trails that connect us with other tourist places in Slovenia and Hungary are very famous.

The municipality of Dobrovnik is a developing municipality, whose citizens have grown into their home soil, are stubborn, persistent and durable like a vine, which they nurture with special care. The nature here invites you to get to know it in all seasons, to enjoy the fresh air, to stop at a vineyard or excursion point. All the residents are working hard for a beautiful image and promotion of the municipality, together with the local associations, who with their programs often brighten up the gray everyday life for all those who accidentally or deliberately come to our place. Associations, in cooperation with all providers and local communities, organize various events, workshops and exhibitions.

A place of relaxation, active rest and culinary experiences

With its destinations, it is a popular tourist spot for families, individuals and closed groups. The most recognizable tourist spot is Bukovniška Lake and its surroundings, which, in addition to fishing, offers opportunities for rest, walks, camping, picnics and sports activities.

In the embrace of old trees in the immediate vicinity of the lake, the chapel of St. Vida stands proudly, and next to it is a spring of the same name with water, which has energy power and many healing effects. 26 energy points of beneficial and healing radiation offer relaxation and restoration of vital energies.

The adventure park and colorful orchids and exotic plants in the tropical garden also invite you. You can learn about the handicraft skills of our masters, try excellent local cuisine and excellent wines from local winemakers in the pleasant atmosphere of our providers.
