Hotel Antiq at Gornji trg 3 under Grajski grič in Ljubljana is one of the most unique and lovely city boutique hotels. Antiq was created in two united bourgeois-craft houses from the 16th century. Before the renovation, there was a carpentry workshop at this location. But history goes even further, to the beginning of the first century AD, i.e. to the time just before the creation of Emona, when there was a workshop there, or the so-called i. Factory for making metal objects. The discovery of archaeological remains on Gornji trg nicely complemented the already known findings about the settlement of the area under the castle hills during the creation of the Roman colony of Emona and right in front of it. For the profession, this was an important step towards a better knowledge of the history of Ljubljana.
