Ekohotel - Kmetija Koroš

Ecohotel farm Koroš is a small, unique eco-hotel with a wonderful view of the Carinthian mountains and peaks.

Why an eco-hotel?

For more than twenty years, the way of life and activities of our family have been inextricably linked with love for nature. I myself started working with nature protection in 1986, when my colleagues and I founded the first ecological center in Carinthia. At that time, ecologists were mainly nerds and dreamers for most of us, who more or less unsuccessfully tried to change the world. Today, however, when ecology has actually become an economic issue, I can realize the ideas and visions from that time in our eco-hotel.

1. Way to live
In 2008, we moved to an organic tourist farm and our lives changed completely. Connection with nature has become part of our everyday life. Since tourism is the basic activity in our country, we decided to develop an eco-hotel on the farm due to our experience and way of life. In this way, we wove ecology in an unforced way into the very stay and activities of our guests. In this sense, cycling programs are also designed in such a way that they interfere with the environment as little as possible and at the same time have an educational role.

2. Organic food
The farm has been focused on organic food production since 2000 and has the appropriate certificate for this. We grow more than half of the food we serve to our guests ourselves. The rest we buy mostly also has an eco or bio-certificate. Our menu reflects the seasons. Summer menus are adapted to crops that grow in the garden. Winter tables are mainly covered with vegetables, which are kept in the cellar in the traditional way without added preservatives. Marmalades and compotes are prepared from the fruits of our orchard and our forests.

3. Energy
We have a small hydroelectric power plant that covers all our electricity needs. We heat the premises with biomass from our forest. We save energy!

4. We separate waste!

5. We mainly use local (eg wood from a native forest) and ecologically verified materials (eg cleaners).

6. We consciously employ the local population, mainly from neighboring farms.

7. We actively participate in development projects.

With a new offer, the Koroš tourist farm is developing into a smaller eco-hotel with ten rooms. Here is our new center for
Mountain biking and other adventures that take place in the surrounding forests and mountains. Guided tours are organized,
themed trips, activities and entertainment.

In addition to a comfortable stay, the farm offers original organically produced dishes.
