Posestvo grad Prestranek

Not far from Postojna and the world-famous Postojna Cave, surrounded by meadows and forests, is the Prestranek Castle estate. The tourist part of the estate is an inn with apartments and an equestrian center and the historically important Prestranek castle. The agricultural part of the estate is spread over 300 hectares of arable land, and is aimed at the production of organic milk, organic grain and the breeding of German black angus cattle.

The mansion was mentioned in historical sources as early as 1581. It was built by Barons Edling from Vipava. In 1728, it came into the ownership of the Inner Austrian court chamber, for the needs of the rapidly developing stud farm in Lipica. The biggest mark on the estate was left by Karel VI, who, among other things, built a four-tract barn for 160 foals. Today, this building houses one of the largest riding halls in Slovenia and the tourist part of the estate (apartments and inn).

Maria Theresa, daughter of Emperor Charles VI. she loved visiting the estate and taking care of it. Even today, an apple orchard is preserved, which is named after it and which leads us to an organic farm. Prestranek Castle, together with the surrounding areas, represented an important part of the Lipica stud farm. After the independence of Slovenia, it came into private ownership with the intention of bringing the estate to life as it used to.

The current management revived the Prestranek estate into an interesting tourist destination, but preserves the historical equestrian tradition.

In the homely atmosphere of the inn at the castle, we offer a wide selection of dishes and drinks. In the summer time, the large outdoor terrace is attractive, with a view of the pasture with horses. On the terrace, surrounded by nature, you will be able to catch the sun's rays and enjoy the richness of the scents and tastes of many Angus organic beef specialties, bred on the Grad Prestranek estate.

The inn's interior spaces accommodate up to 65 people and are suitable for private parties. By agreement, they also prepare birthday celebrations, business meetings, parties, various celebrations.

You can also spend the night with them in six apartments with 2**. The apartments are equipped with a kitchenette and a bathroom.
