Briefly about the castle
Komenda Castle, the best-preserved castle of the Order of the Knights of Malta, has been the center of events in Polzela throughout history. It flourished in the 16th century, when the castle was at its peak. At the time when he fell under the auspices of the Order of the Knights of Malta (1323–1780), he functioned as a command - an administrative unit of the religious estate, where the name of the castle also comes from. Komenda Castle has changed quite a few owners throughout history, and the first half-herb knight Degnardus de Helenstein is mentioned as early as 1170.

With its location, historical characteristics and stylistic elements, it represents an important part of cultural heritage. The special feature of the castle is the ancient lion made of Pohorje marble, placed on the stair railing of the main entrance. The ancient lion and the Maltese cross also found their place in the Polzel coat of arms. Above the stairs, there is also a bronze plaque with a portrait of France Prešeren built into the wall, who regularly came to Polzela to his uncle, the pastor.

In 2011, Komenda Castle came to life again, both in the cultural and social spheres, as the wedding hall, library and music school came to life after the renovation of the castle. The premises of the castle building are also intended for exhibitions, concerts and other occasional events. We will take care of culinary pleasures in the Maltese temple, where we will spoil you.

Special occasions
In the Maltese hram inn, we dedicate ourselves to every guest who wants to organize the celebration in our premises individually and try to do our best to please and adapt to the client's wishes. We have a castle wine cellar available for a company of up to 36 people, a restaurant for up to 28 people, and in nice and warm weather there is also an atrium for 26 people. For groups of up to 60 people, we have available leasing of the inn.
