The municipality of Ivančna Gorica lies somehow halfway between Ljubljana and New Town, surrounded by soft Dolenj hills, covered in carpets of green meadows and forests, wrapped in a mysterious interweaving of the past with the future. Under the slogan Prijetno domje - the municipality of Ivančna Gorica, the municipal center of Ivančna Gorica will welcome you and invite you to get to know the surrounding local centers at the Saturday market. Muljave, where the famous birthplace of the writer Josip Jurčič stands, the town of Višnja Gora with a medieval core under the watchful eye of Stari Grad or Stična, where you can rest the spirit among the white monks in to the ancient Cistercian monastery. In neighboring Šentvid, you can sing in the largest Slovenian choir or head to the south of the municipality and visit the source of the green beauty of Krka and sit along its banks all the way to Zagradac, where you can still smell home-made flour and bread. The intoxicating smell of the forests, which is so well known by mushroom pickers, takes you to Ambrus, but you can indulge in enjoying a noble drop that thrives in the vicinity of Temenica. The pulse of lively rural areas awaits you even along the upper reaches of the Temenica river in Sobrače, you can still find authentic farm life in Dob pri Šentvid, and in its surroundings a picturesque landscape and numerous karst phenomena. Still others can go along the rugged hills and taste the homeliness of the farms in the vicinity of Metnaj.
