Ruardova graščina

Due to the renovation of Ruard's mansion, the ironworks museum is closed until further notice.

In 1538, the Italian family Bucelleni moved from Planina pod Golica to Stara Sava. She built a mansion and built a smelter next to it, which in a short time brought considerable wealth to her. In 1686, Bucellenia even achieved the honor of the count. The plants and the manor house were bought in 1766 by the Belgian merchant Valentin Ruard. Three generations of Ruards lived in the mansion, and in 1871 the ownership passed to the Carniola Industrial Society. Since 1954, the manor has been converted into a museum. Until 1990, the Technical Museum of the Jesenice Ironworks operated there, and since 1991 it has been the headquarters of the inter-municipal Gornjesava Museum in Jesenice. Today, it houses a permanent iron and mining collection and, since 1993, a collection of fossils and rocks of the western Karavanka, collected by Jože Bedič.

The owners of Sava Fužina lived in Ruard's mansion. On the ground floor there were offices, a cash register, a stamp award and a shop with mixed goods. On the first floor was the Fužinar's apartment with twelve rooms, a large hall and five rooms for guests. Some said red room. They also had a piano and a pool table in it. On the second floor there were four rooms and a house theater. The manor was connected to the church by a bridge.
