The largest Slovenian museum, the Technical Museum of Slovenia, is located in the former Carthusian monastery in Bistra near Vrhnika, which is only twenty kilometers from Ljubljana.

Between the monastery walls and corridors, there are many permanent collections and occasional exhibitions in the fields of agriculture, transport, forestry, woodworking, hunting, fishing, textiles, electrical engineering and printing. Visitors pay a lot of attention to the collection of Tito's cars and water-powered devices, such as a grain mill, a tool forge, a reconstructed veneer plant drive and a Venetian sawmill.

The objects and devices that we discover in the collections carry many fun, instructive and interesting stories and answer many questions: What kind of car did my grandparents drive? How did my grandmother bake bread? What did they weave clothes with?

On Saturdays and Sundays, the museum offers a varied schedule of events, through which young and adult visitors can really feel the technological spirit of the past. After visiting the museum, you can treat yourself to a pleasant rest in a peaceful natural environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, with the soothing sounds of the murmuring museum stream.

Sunday and Holidays: 10:00-18:00
November 1: Closed
On Mondays and from December 4 to March 1, open only for the announced groups (01 750 66 72, 01 436 16 06).
