In the heart of Poljanska dolina, in an idyllic rural environment, there is a farm near Pustotnik, where, in addition to animal husbandry, we have been engaged in cheesemaking for more than two decades. Žuža and Milan Brence were the ones who started processing their own milk in 1988 in a simple small cheese factory and thus revived the craft that appeared here several centuries ago. With the knowledge they gathered abroad and above all with great desire and enthusiasm for work, they started with a tradition that continues after almost a quarter of a century...
Today, the Pustotnik cheese factory also processes goat and sheep's milk from the surrounding farms in addition to its own (cow's) milk, which places it on the list of rare cheese factories in Central Europe, which offers its customers products made from cow's, goat's and sheep's milk.
Through several years of operation, the farm and the cheese factory have experienced great progress, so today we offer our customers more than seventy different products. However, because we appreciate and respect the quality of domestic production, despite the ever-increasing volume of processing, we still use traditional methods of cheese making.
